This playlist consists of videos by Keto4Karboholics and Dr. Eric Westman who both have extensive knowledge into keto. Keep in mind both of them have COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ways of doing keto. K4K (Keto4Karboholics) is all about tracking macros (it's how I lost most of my weight and several thousands of others). Dr Westman has been practicing keto medicine for over 20 years and has a more simplified approach (no tracking) but he does limit quantities. Read more about my recommendations below!

At this point, I have recommended 5 friends, 4 of which have continued on to complete more than 1 challenge and have lost a total of 125 lbs with those 4 friends! In my first challenge, I lost over 19 lbs in 6 weeks and I learned what caused me stalls on keto the first time and where I went wrong (keto on my own, I lost 12 lbs in 8 weeks).  Even those that THOUGHT they knew how to do keto find out SOOO much more from her challenges. I cannot recommend her challenges enough.

Sign-ups for the current challenge are closed. This challenge will go until 12/23, so the next challenge probably won't start until January. However, sign-ups will be much sooner! I will post here when they are back open!

Ruled.me is a great resource and has so many good articles. I used them when I first started keto. You definitely want to calculate your macros first with their macro calculator. He has a pretty comprehensive beginner's guide and, I myself, paid for the 30-day beginner's guide, when I first did Keto.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Good recipes - he has some really creative keto recipes, my hardest part is I usually felt there was an ingredient used that I didn't have or wasn't easy to find
  • ​​​Comprehensive website and very well done with great information
  • 30-day beginner's guide: a great way to start, however, I found that some of the meal plans were higher in calories and macros for me, making it harder to adjust as I went along. Also, weeks 3 and 4 have quite a bit of fasting and for me, I wasn't ready to try that yet

I relied a lot on her recipes and meal plans when I first began keto and she really has good recipes. Here's the link to her meal plans page
  • Delicious recipes with a great variety
  • I fell in love with her meal plans (with shopping lists) for FREE
  • A great place to start
  • However, some of her days were planned at over 1600 calories per day and subtracting macros is always a bit difficult
  • Her website does have QUITE a bit of adds, so my computer sounds like it's working hard to navigate her site all the time, which is a bit of a downfall

​DR  ERIC  WESTMAN'S  APPROACH -- SIMPLIFYING   KETO

Dr. Westman learned from Bob Atkins and has been practicing and prescribing keto medicine for over 20 years! I have posted his talk at Low Carb Denver on the keto science page. He has a GREAT approach for those who DO NOT WANT TO TRACK. I myself, might give it a try! For $9.99 he has all of the info on one page of WHAT TO EAT. He also explains it on his site

This is a website run mainly by physicians, which I absolutely love. I found them after I was pretty knowledgeable about Keto, so I never used their beginner information. However, considering the sources are so knowledgeable, I can only imagine how great their information is! Start here, 14-day plan here

I used their 14 day meal plan as a starting point for keto and general enjoyed their food. Click here for the direct pdf download. I also paid for their "in Five" series of cookbooks that are meals with 5 ingredients or less and felt that it was worth the price! 
  • Great recipes! However, I did find some of the recipes were a bit high in protein and made it hard to fit into my macros
  • ​14 day meal plan is a great starting point!
  • Meal plans were over my calories (>1500 calories per day) making it more difficult to meet mine with the need to subtract
  • Some of the recipes use condiments or ingredients with "sugar" in the ingredients, so for strict keto just make sure you sub the correct items (not doing so can cause weight loss stalls)
